Carpenter Apprentice / Construction Laborer

Red House Remodeling is looking for a motivated, hard-working Carpenter Apprentice / Laborer to join our design-build team in the Des Moines metro area. Whether you are looking to start a career in residential construction or build upon your existing hands-on skills, this role offers direct mentoring from skilled craftsmen on residential remodeling projects.

• Assist lead carpenters with daily tasks on residential remodeling job sites (kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions and whole-home renovations).
• Assist with job site setup, staging materials, and keeping work areas clean, organized and safe.
• Learn and practice core carpentry skills, including framing, demolition, trim installation, window/door installation and hardware mounting.
• Handle material loading/unloading, tool maintenance and general job site preparation.
• Work collaboratively with project managers, designers, lead carpenters and sub-trades.

• Experience: 0–2 years of basic residential construction, landscaping or hand-tool experience (willingness to learn is key).
• Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs and eager to take initiative.
• Basic Skills: Familiarity with basic hand and power tools (tape measure, hammer, drill, circular saw).
• Requirements: Valid driver’s license and reliable daily transportation to job sites across the Des Moines metro. Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening and background check; strong preference for non-smokers.
• Attitude: Positive, eager to learn the trade and respectful of clients' property and team members.
